Zdravo (hello) from Macedonia

When we arrived in Macedonia we were asked to come up with ideas to fellowship with our students and the locals. I thought a bike ride would be a great way of interacting with them. We started out by the school in Skopje. We headed to down town Chento by the river. We had to bike about four miles in the city before we got to the river where there was a trail....WOW.....talk about an adventure!! I prayed the whole way. This was not something that Bobby, Russ or I were used to. Mercus, one of Russ students graciously lead the way through the traffic. We arrived at the river and biked for about four more miles until we arrived in Chento. What a beautiful place to stop and have cafe and icecream. All the resteraunts had outside seating. We stopped at a place where we heard piano music playing and enjoyed getting to know one another a little better. It was at this time I was able to share my testimony. God uses those that are willing to be used. Some seed, some water and others harvest! This is something God showed me while in Macedonia. We finished our icecream and headed back home to complete our sixteen mile bike ride. On our way back into Skopje, we came across a little farm house along the highway. There were goats up on rocks and kids tending to the animals. A little gypsy boy was leading his horse down a hillside and saw us biking. He quickly came back up the hill because he wanted his picture taken. Smiling from ear to ear was this little boy. He was wearing tattered clothing, living alongside the road in a little house made of tin, possibly sleeping on a dirt floor that evening. To see such contentment on this little boys face as I took his photo humbled me. I finished the bike ride thanking God for not only being able to give, but also receive!
