Going the distance!

Once again, another great ride and thanks for everyone that turned out!! We had a couple of new faces this week... welcome LeeAnn and Traci! We all met at Ira Trailhead this time, and headed north towards Hunt Farm. Kenn joined us there, and we continued the ride up to Deep Lock Quarry. Everyone had some extra energy, so the we extended the ride to Penninsula and turned around at Lock 29. This makes the longest ride yet at 10 miles!! Szalays farm market had just opened for the season, so we made a quick stop on the way back to check out the produce and try out the swing! After returning to the trailhead parking, we headed over to Sand Run and set up the grill and broke out the aerobie for Kenn to show off his behind-the-back moves and for Traci to demonstrate playing frisbee while sitting... who knew it was possible?! Check out the pictures and hope you can all make it next time!!

Something Different for the 16th!

For those wanting to ride a little farther, we will be doing an optional "pre-ride" on the 16th. See the calendar for details, but here it is in a nutshell: If you want to do the shorter ride (about 8 miles), come at 3:00 pm. If you want to do the longer ride (about 16 miles), come at 1:45 pm. If you want to come for just the picnic, we should be starting that at Sand Run around 5:00pm. Hope to see you there!

Rain rain go away...or maybe not!

Who would have thought a little mud and a lot of rain would be so much fun! We started out at Botzum Trailhead and five minutes into the bike ride it started to rain.....that's right....I said rain! By the time we reached our turn around point, we were soaked and had mudd covering our backs! Despite the weather, everyone seemed to really enjoy the experience. As we were heading back to our cars the weather started to clear up a little. Most of us were dry by the time we made it back! We followed Dave over to beautiful Sand Run Metro Park again where he found us a great pavillion to cookout under! We had lots to eat but missed some of our favorites. Anita's scotchies and Maria's baked beans to mention a few!! Ladies, I am putting my order in now :)! It was so nice to have some new faces join us! We played soft ball, arobie and foxtail. The highlight of the cookout was watching everyone attempt to get the foxtail out of the tree. It took a ball, a bungie cord, a flying person, last but not least a very long stick to get it out! Take a look at the pics and enjoy!! Hope to see you all on the next ride!
